Make it yours - What color should I paint my studio?

Maybe this is just me, but the first thing I searched for when I started to seriously think about building my home studio was - “what color should I paint the walls?” After all I was going to be spending a lot of time in there. I wanted something that would feel inspiring and inviting. Oddly enough I could not find any suggestions.

For me at least, this was the first step in building out my studio. I did not want to think about getting everything set-up only to have to remove everything to paint at a later point. Also, my space was previously my daughter’s play room as well as a work-out room and she had done quite a number on the walls.

I started to think about what colors I love. Red is my favorite, but thinking about working in a red room - pink or burgundy did not really move me. I wanted the walls to be light to reflect more light when I am working, so dark colors were out. Can you imagine what kind of pottery comes out of a dark red room? The idea of a pink room, while pretty, was just a bit too cotton candy for me. That is when I started to consider purple. Purple has a feminine quality I love and a light lavender would give me the light reflection I needed for working.

After some test swatches on the wall, I settled on Silver Peony which was the perfect light reflecting lavender color. Fast forward to project done, it is an amazing creative backdrop.
